Please join the Virtual Chapter for an in-person and online discussion about how successful career paths can differ in trajectory and what success can look like when not linear. Erika Fleming

Business Architect

Schwab

Erika is a senior manager/business architect for the Securities Lending Department at Charles Schwab.  In her role, she is product owner for all technology and internal/external applications used to support the Sec Lending department and is responsible for all tech onboarding. She supports securities lending trading, short sales, and fully paid programs, with a focus on processing efficiency and customer experience.

Erika is active in Women in Securities Finance and within similar employee resource groups available at Schwab.  She previously served as co-chair for the PRIDE Denver chapter.  Erika also has a passion for educating others about securities lending activities and actively runs an educational program for onboarding new hires/new to securities lending personnel at Schwab. 

Erika joined Schwab in 2017, starting as a business analyst/product owner supporting six functional business units with the Settlements Operations group before transitioning to her current role within the Securities Lending Department.  Prior to working at Schwab, Erika supported clients of FIS Loanet and Smart Loan applications, and worked securities lending operational roles at Citadel, Wachovia (now Wells Fargo), and Stephens, Inc. in Little Rock.  She graduated summa cum laude from DePaul University with a focus on Global Economics and Leadership in 2020. 

In addition to her corporate achievements, Erika is an avid gardener, fiber artist, and musician. 

Lise-Lotte Smith

Director, Head of Taxable SMA and Bond Research

Schwab Asset Management

Lise-Lotte Smith is a Director and Head of the Taxable SMA and Bond Research Team for Schwab Asset Management. Ms. Smith is responsible for credit and investment research for asset-backed commercial paper programs (ABCP), Nordic banks, and U.S. insurance companies.

Prior to joining Schwab in 2015, Ms. Smith was at BlackRock and was a part of the risk and quantitative analysis group responsible for asset-backed securities credit and investment risk analysis. At Barclays Global Investors, before merging with BlackRock in 2009, she was a credit analyst in the global cash management credit group. Prior to joining Barclays Global Investors in 2005, Ms. Smith was a research associate at Banc One Capital Markets.

Ms. Smith earned a Master of Science in business administration from Jönköping International Business School in Sweden.

Linda Klingman

Managing Director, Head of Money Market Strategies

Schwab Asset Management

Linda Klingman is a Managing Director and Head of Money Market Strategies for Schwab Asset Management. She leads the portfolio management teams for taxable and tax-exempt Schwab Money Funds and the Schwab Ultra-Short Income ETF, and has overall responsibility for all aspects of the management of the funds.

Prior to joining Schwab in 1990, she was a senior money market trader with AIM Management, Inc. She has managed money market funds since 1988.

Ms. Klingman earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Prior to joining Schwab in 2015, Ms. Smith was at BlackRock and was a part of the risk and quantitative analysis group responsible for asset-backed securities credit and investment risk analysis. At Barclays Global Investors, before merging with BlackRock in 2009, she was a credit analyst in the global cash management credit group. Prior to joining Barclays Global Investors in 2005, Ms. Smith was a research associate at Banc One Capital Markets.

Ms. Smith earned a Master of Science in business administration from Jönköping International Business School in Sweden.

Mariela Jobson

Senior Portfolio Manager

Schwab Asset Management

Mariela Jobson is a Senior Portfolio Manager for Schwab Asset Management. Ms. Jobson leads the team of portfolio managers responsible for the oversight and management of international equity index Schwab Funds and Schwab ETs.

Prior to joining Schwab in 2023, Ms. Jobson worked at BlackRock (formerly Barclays Global Investors) for 16 years as a lead portfolio maanger, where she managed all aspects of investment activities of iShares exchange traded funds in global equity, preferred equity, and commodities. Most recently, she was responsible for leading a team of portfolio managers who managed domestic, developed, emerging and frontier markets covering market-cap, factor, ESG and thematic index strategies. Prior to BlackRock, Ms. Jobson worked as an associate equity analyst at Wedbush Morgan Secuirties and as an equity research analyst at ING Investments.

Ms. Jobson earned a Master of Business Administration from UCLA Anderson School of Management, and a Bachelor Science in finance from Arizona State University.

Jennifer Gurr

Director, Head of Money Market Research

Schwab Asset Management

Jennifer Gurr is a Director and Head of Money Market Research for Schwab Asset Management. Ms. Gurr is responsible for a group of analysts who evaluate and monitor taxable and tax-exempt scurrilities being reviewed, or held by, Schwab Taxable Money Funds. In addition, she is a lead analyst for the European banks. She also sits on various governance committees.

Prior to starting this role in 2022, Ms. Gurr joined Schwab in 2015 as a taxable research analyst, primarily responsible for coverage of European and Australian/New Zealand banks. Before joining Schwab, Ms. Gurr was vice president at BlackRock in the risk and quantitative analysis counterparty and concentration risk group where she was involved in the ongoing assessment of counterparty creditworthiness globally and the approval of prospective trading partners using quantitative and qualitative analysis. Before that, she worked at Barclays Global Investors as a principal in the global cash credit group where she managed a portfolio of financial institution issuers for investment in Barclays Global Investors global cash funds.

Ms. Gurr earned a Master of International Studies from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a specialization in international relations from the University of California, Los Angeles.
